An Honest Review of the Samsung 8000 Series LED 3D TV

Shapes will not blur into each other and on a good day, you might even be able to make out individual blades of grass during a football game.

The Samsung 9000 3D LED TV at CES – A Review Video

We’re here at the Samsung stand and we are surrounded by TVs, but this is the star of the show. It is the 9000 series. It measures only 0.3 inches in thinness and the killer feature is that, its 3D LED so we’re going to have a look at that feature and a few of the others on the Samsung stand, so let’s go and have a look.

This is 3D LED on the 9000 series, which will be available in the UK in 46 inch and 55 inch and I wish we could show you how good an experience this is. In a word, it’s FANTASTIC. But it’s not just a great 3D experience you’re going to get with the 9000 series. With the LED, the picture quality is going to be great in 2D as well.

Also shipping with the 9000 series is this touch remote, which has its own screen on it and the features it has are pretty fantastic. One of which is Twin, you just press that and say you have got something playing on your main unit. You can also watch it on the remote and carry it to other parts of your home.

Another feature is Channels, so you can press the channel button here and you have got your list of channels. Select one and you can press preview and get a preview of what’s on that channel just on the screen on the remote. But you’ve still got your blu-ray dvd playing on the main screen. Say you like what you’re seeing, press watch on and this then changes the channel on the main screen.

The secret behind this TV’s thinness is that most of the technology isn’t actually in the bezel itself but hidden in this pack at the back including four HDMI ports.

Internet is another feature you are going to be able to get on the 9000 series and you are going to be able to get between 70 and 100 apps. One of the most exciting ones in the UK is LoveFilm and they haven’t got it here but it will have a similar interface to that of videos to be able to stream movies direct to your TV set. Also expect to see an announcement with iPlayer in the very near future.

Not only is this a mere 0.3 inches in thinness it also has 3D LED, internet TV and a pretty funky touch remote. It will be available in the UK in 46 and 55 inch, and expect to see it in shops this summer.

How to Wall Mount the Samsung 3D TV LED 9000 Series

Wall-mounting the Samsung 9000 Series 3D LED TV can be done right out of the box. All the accessories are included. The only extras you’ll need are an assistant to help move it and a screwdriver or power drill. The Samsung 9000 Series’ ultra slim wall mounting kit even includes hardware and instructions for mounting your TV to various wall types.

After unpacking the Samsung 9000 3D LED TV, use the top styrofoam packing insert as a support base. With an assistant to help you, lay the TV face down. If you don’t have the styrofoam insert, we recommend using a soft blanket or comforter on a table wide enough to support the width of the TV. Now remove the back cover by holding the bottom and gently pulling up. This will reveal ten screws. Loosen and remove the screws and slowly detach the pedestal from the TV panel then place it aside.

Now with the pedestal removed, unscrew and remove the four mounting stud caps on the back of the Samsung 9000 Series panel. Use the mounting studs from the bag labeled E and screw them into the eight holes. The next step is to remove the connection panel from the pedestal. On the bottom of the pedestal, you will see eight screws around the edge and two in the middle. Remove all ten of the screws and carefully detach the connection panel from the pedestal. Keep the eight screws together as you will need them a little later. For safekeeping, you can attach the two middle screws back to the pedestal.

Now, take the connection panel with the inputs directed toward the top of your Samsung 9000 Series 3D TV LED and gently lay it into place making sure the holes line up with the mounting studs. Then use the eight screws you removed from the bottom of the stand and secure them into the mounting studs. To avoid over-tightening the screws, we recommend you do not use a power drill.

Once the connection panel is attached, you can attach the Samsung 9000 Series ultra slim wall mount. The ultra slim wall mount bar comes attached so just remove the two screws on each end to secure the ultra slim wire mount. Use the two screws in the bag labeled C to attach the ultra slim wire mount to your Samsung 9000 Series 3D LED TV. Now find the two kick stands provided and fasten them to the back of the connection panel with the supplied screws in the bag labeled D.

Finally, with an assistant, slowly lift the TV and hang it as you would a picture frame, making sure the ultra slim wire mount catches the ultra slim wall mount anchors. Before you release the TV, make sure the wire mount is fitting properly around both wall anchors.
